For auction is a 1974 Omega Constellation Chronometer ref. 351.0013 18k yellow gold 4 sector smoked dial 150 grams massive oversized frosted gold case with faceted crystal. The good: 1. It is never lost on me that despite thousands and thousands of watches sold and many thousands more handled, that I am in the fashion business. Tastes change over time, they evolve. I've seen the pendulum swing back and forth and back again on what is 'in' and what is 'out'. These king of integrated gold bracelet watches are VERY much back in. Typically these swings are correcting market inefficiencies: the market perceives that a certain style or type of watch is undervalued and corrects that. This has happened here but it also makes a ton of sense. In general vintage watches went through the moon in price in the 2010's because they represented real value vs. modern pieces. These integrated watches offer up huge value against what the manufacturers are able to put out today. Just look at the new Polo; its GREAT but its also 75k. If Omega put this watch out today it'd be well over 50k. 2. The case finishing, design, faceted crystal, smoked quadrant dial in bitonal brown is just over the top incredible. It is so 1974 and in the very best of ways; it represents the sort of swing that big makers no longer take; more it is the independents that are taking that kind of design risk. 3. It will fit up to a 7" wrist. 4. Condition is fantastic and its working correctly. What isn't so good: 1. It will only fit a 7" wrist: if you need links that just isn't going to happen. 2. The original and exceptional faceted mineral crystal has a small scratch. This is a special watch that represents both a collectible piece and an alternative to modern all gold bracelet watches. It makes a major visual impact on the wrist and is something truly special.
